Dior goes mystical
The Christian Dior Haute Couture collection designed by Maria Grazia Chiuri was unveiled through a 15-minute film directed by Matteo Garrone.
The story unfolds with a young mysterious woman, asking an existential question to a tarot reader. ‘Who am I?’
After she revealed the card “the high priestess”, the young woman started an mysterious adventure, where she meets the real-life characters from the cards.
She goes through various locked levels in a palace and finally meets her true self.
Dior presented a very mysterious, sensual and high level couture show.
Dior recreated one of the most iconic designs, the Miss Dior dress, in gold.
A mini corset-style bra with a dress underneath entirely covered with flowers on a lattice base, which are all hand stitched and attached via a painstakingly precise process.
“In this moment, when we are very lost in our personal life, this idea – this magic – can help us to have hope for the future,” Maria Grazia Chiuri said.
Back in 2016, Maria Grazia Chiuri made her formal debut at the house of Dior with a breathtaking tarot-themed collection. She connects the power of material objects with the spiritual world.
Dior’s 2018 resort collection was also inspired by a feminist tarot deck created by Karen Vogel and Vicki Noble in the late ’70s. So naturally, the spring 2021 haute couture collection followed suit with 45 looks that bring the cards to life.
